Lookout Mtn.- Sunset Rock/Bluff Trail (Easy to Moderate +/- 6 mi. LOCAL HIKE)
We will be hiking from the trailhead near Covenant College (Och's Gateway) to Sunset Rock (where we will break for a snack or lunch) and back, for an out and back total of +/- 6 miles, rated as easy to moderate. The Bluff Trail is an easy trail to navigate and is quite flat, with two exceptions; an ascent and descent at the beginning of the trail and an .2 mi. ascent and descent at Sunset Rock. The +/- 6 miles and the two climbs lend to rating this hike as an Easy to Moderate hike. Please come out and join us as we enjoy the views from the Bluff Trail atop Lookout Mountain and Sunset Rock (don't forget to bring a camera !)
WHEN/WHERE and MEETING TIME:
We will be meeting at the Wal-Mart in Lookout Valley (3550 Cummings Highway Chattanooga, TN. 37419) at 10 am EST/EDT and carpooling to the trailhead near Covenant College (Frontier Bluff Road Lookout Mtn. GA.) Please be prompt and arrive at 10 am EST/EDT or soon thereafter, in order to be ready to leave and follow the carpool to the trailhead.
WHAT TO BRING:
- With the trail being quite flat & easy to navigate (with only the .2 mile descent & ascent from the stairs on Sunset Rock and a descent & ascent near the trailhead by Covenant College) a hiking shoe or trail shoe is suitable.
- If you'd like to take home a few memories, a camera to take pictures of the views...especially from Sunset Rock.
- We are intending to eat lunch atop Sunset Rock, so if you'd like to participate please bring along a snack or a lunch. As ALWAYS, also please remember to bring water along to hydrate.
PETS:
We welcome your furry friends, but please remember that National Park System (NPS www.nps.gov) regulations are in effect.

I got see some old friends, Dennis, Doshi, Melissa and Nason, and met some new ones, Michelle, Kathy, Lilly, Aaron, Russ and Abigail. All in all, ti was a great group to hike with and good day! -
