FIERY  GIZZARD

Meeting Time:  8 am

Meeting Location:  Grundy Forest Parking Lot in Tracy City, TN

Hiking Distance:  9.6 miles

Distance from Chattanooga:  approximately 50 minutes from Chattanooga carpool location

Hike Rating:  Strenuous

We will be starting at the Grundy Forest Trailhead, heading along the Fiery Gizzard trail to Raven's Point.  We will stop for a lunch/snack break at this beautiful overlook.  We will then take the Dog Hole Trail back to where it re-joins the Fiery Gizzard for our return to the trailhead.  Along the way, we will see waterfalls, cascades, rock formations, and an old mining area.

This will be a very challenging hike.  It is not for beginners.  There will be a large segment of the hike whereby the trail consists of walking from rock/boulder to rock/boulder rather than a path type of trail.  There will also be some steep inclines.  This will definitely be a calorie burner, so be sure to bring plenty of snacks and water to refuel.

No-Shows: As with all Meetup's, please be polite -- if you are a YES RSVP, please show up. If you can't make it, please change your YES to a NO as soon as possible.  Please don't be a "no-show!"  

WEATHER:  As with all outdoor events, if it's raining/stormy or very poor trail conditions, we may have to cancel. If the weather is questionable, please check this event page before you leave home.
