Directions from downtown Chattanooga:
Take US 27 North thru downtown Chattanooga. As you are leaving downtown area on US 27, you will cross Tennessee River. After crossing river, begin a long uphill grade. After topping hill, begin a long downhill grade. As you approach bottom of downhill grade you will see a sign that says “Signal Mtn 127 North” which marks the exit to Highway 127. Exit here onto Highway 127 which is also known as Signal Mountain Blvd. The exit ramp sends you in the correct direction on 127.
Continue on Highway 127 (Signal Mountain Blvd) for about 1.75 miles to your next turn onto State Highway 27 also known as Suck Creek Road and shown on Google maps as Cherokee Trail. Along the way to the left hand turn onto State Highway 27 you will pass the Komatsu heavy equipment plant on your right and then a traffic light at Mountain Creek Road intersection. After passing thru Mountain Creek Road intersection, you should move into left hand lane in preparation for left turn about .4 mile past Mountain Creek Road intersection. A few hundred yards before your left turn onto State Highway 27, you will see a quick oil change business on your right.
After turning left onto State Highway 27, you will immediately cross railroad tracks. Continue on State Highway 27 for about 8 miles to a left turn onto Choctaw Trail at brown colored Prentice Cooper sign. Along the way to Prentice Cooper sign, you will pass Buzzi Unicem plant shortly after crossing railroad tracks and Suck Creek Baptist Church at about 3.5 miles. At about 4 miles you will begin an approximate 4 mile curvy uphill grade to the left turn at Prentice Cooper sign.
After turning onto Choctaw Trail, take the first left onto Tower Drive (aka Game Reserve Rd) which is only a few hundred yards. You will see a couple of small brown colored Prentice Cooper signs directing the way to this left turn.
A few hundred yards after the left turn onto Tower Drive, pavement turns to gravel and shortly thereafter you will enter Prentice Cooper State Forest and Wildlife Management Area.
